Since I’m not in the habit of taking photos of my meals everyday, I only have a couple of photos to show for the past week…still loving salads, smoothies, & almond butter.
So, I decided to do what any lazy creative blogger would do, and hit up the archives for this week’s What I Ate Wednesday.

Billy and I got married last September in a small ceremony with our parents, then caught a flight to London the next day for a whirlwind trip-of-a-lifetime through Europe. I blogged the whole time (click here to read), and I’m so thankful to have the digital travel journal documenting the details of the train rides, flights, hotels, beaches, landmarks, and of course, the food!
Let’s start with breakfast, shall we?
London. Everything fresh and homemade. The best fresh-squeezed juice I’ve ever tasted. Delicious, nutty granola that I still crave.

Paris. One of our best breakfasts on the trip. Can you guess which one is Bee’s?

Zurich. Incredible selection of cereal, granola, nuts, dried fruit, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, breads, croissants, and the option to for hot foods made to order.

Interlaken. Nothing to write home about, but tasty granola and fresh fruit to take with us for the next train ride.

Lake Como. Easily the best breakfast during the trip at Villa d’Este. We shamelessly ate their entire platter of smoked salmon 2 mornings in a row.

Genoa. Missing the smoked salmon. Yes, that is a vat of nutella.

St. Paul de Vence. The pastries, bread basket, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and homemade strawberry preserves helped us move past missing the smoked salmon.

Montpellier. They delivered fresh croissants, a baguette, and jam to our guesthouse. And I bought almond milk at the grocery store which made me happy.

Barcelona. Most adorable details in the table setting. We were in a hurry to catch a plane to Ibiza, and couldn’t stay long enough to fully enjoy the meal.

Ibiza. No breakfast photos from Ibiza. I think we were too busy honeymooning.
Madrid. Between our hotel, and the Mercado de San Miguel around the corner, we were set up with all sorts of delicious breakfast options.
And the flight home…

What’s the best breakfast you’ve had while traveling?
Do you typically choose sweet or savory breakfast foods?
I hope you had a great breakfast this morning to start your day off right!

oh, dorry, your photographs are GORGEOUS!!! what a wonderful collection of visual memories you have – i am guessing you have more photos than posted in your travel blog entries? i love this Tour de Breakfast idea! and i am going to say that the eggs n bacon were NOT yours!
i am definitely the pastry-for-breakfast type, not the salty/meat type. would love to do a european tasting tour!
the best breakfast i can remember was coffee cake in moab, utah…after a morning run, that coffee cake was just the best. have not been able to find a match since!
i finished my almond butter yesterday – must replace! like you, it’s been hitting the spot!

Wow, look at all of that lovely food! I wish I would have experienced something like that before I had kids. Me and the hubby have not gotten to really travel much together. I keep telling myself when the kids get a little bit older!
I heart sweet breakfasts but love savory ones too. I would say breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! I had these pancakes that were to DIE for at one hotel in San Antonio…I have no idea what was different about them but they basically melted in my mouth! ah! I wonder what their secret was!
OMG I wanted to eat your blog LOL. Everything looked AMAZING!! I would love to go on a trip like that someday. how very cool! I’ll have to check out your archive to get the scoop
The best breakfast on vacation I ever had was in Healdsburg CA during our two trips to that region to visit Sonoma County (um, I heart wine country). It was at this little diner in the square – an egg white omelette with goat cheese and fresh tomatoes and avacado. Hands down the most delicious plate of food that I ever devoured. Second to that were the scones at the bakery right next store. Unreal. Mmm.

Dorry this may be my favorite WIAW ever! I loved seeing all of the delicious food you had on your trip!
I tend to stay more satisfied with savory breakfasts, but if I am offered the chance to have a beautiful plate of french toast I will not say no!

oh my gosh! your breakfasts alone make it look like a fabulous trip!
usually at home i eat sweet breakfasts (oatmeal or yogurt bowls), but when i’m traveling i love to get savory breakfasts – usually omelettes made to order stuffed full of veggies!

Beautiful photo recap! So much fresh fruit and granola (and pastries, ’cause the Europeans OWN those things)
My favorite travel breakfast memory (not a common sentence-starter) is Hawaii – freshest of the fresh pineapples, pineapple bread, tropical fruit spreads, etc. So refreshing! I usually go for savory, but fruit-loaded sweet.

I remember reading through all your Europe posts & being soooo jealous over those amazing breakfasts. Yum yum!
Actually one of my best breakfasts while traveling was over Spring break in San Francisco. I had an hour to kill so I roamed around the boat house down by fisherman’s wharf & a restaurant caught my eye. I got scrambeled eggs & buttered toast, and you could tell the eggs were so fresh because they were the prettiest shade of yellow. So simple, and so divine.
A close second would have to be the blueberry pancakes with a lemon glaze at the Little Nell in Aspen… desish!
Is it wrong that this phrase
“I think we were too busy honeymooning.”
made me giggle? I’m such a 12 year old boy.

So fun to see a few glimpses of your travels again – I’ve come down with a serious travel bug lately!
I think my favorite breakfast was actually on Jon and I’s honeymoon in New England We were at a bed and breakfast in New Hampshire and they served blueberry pancakes that were to die for! I hope we get to go back there someday – how fun it would be to revisit our honeymoon suite now that it’s been five years!
What a cool post. I can’t recall any fabulous breakfast while traveling. I’m not a huge breakfast foods fan though. I do good to have my oatmeal

Ooh great post!! The best breakfast I had abroad was in Italy. At our place in Venice, they would bake these apricot-jam-filled croissants every morning. Absolutely heavenly!!
