Pizza & Giveaway Winners

May 13, 2011

Billy and I made pizza at home last night. He used a store-bought crust from Whole Foods and made fresh pizza sauce using canned whole tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and garlic. Simple and SO delicious. I almost ate it with a spoon.

I made a socca crust made with chickpea flour, salt, pepper, and warm water. (I left out the garlic powder pictured below.)

Even though I coated the pan with olive oil, my socca stuck a bit to the bottom.

Mine with veggies, basil and nooch (for flavor and important B vitamins). Billy’s with mozzarella, chorizo on half, tomato slices, and basil.

His is clearly the winner.

Not that there was ever really a contest to begin with. Have you seen the way he prepares food??

I wish I could get into reading for hours, but I just can’t! Maybe if I’m on a beach, but even then I like to take walks. Sadly, my reading time is usually right before bedtime which doesn’t last too long. :)

I’m such a number nerd, too. I was a little bummed they were both odd numbers because I’m a fan of evens, but thanks for pointing out the doubles! I just went back and edited my post to link “basil” to your BASIL. Is he with y’all on vacation?? Add pizza party to the list of things we’ll do together. I think sushi, tea, GF baked goods, and long walks are on the list so far….xoxoxoxo

aw, Basil is happy when you link to him <3

he is NOT with us, and I miss him so! we thought about bringing him, but when we reach napa especially, we have a couple restaurants we are going to, bike rides and wine tasting he may not be able to join… we plan on taking another long road trip that might be more camping, etc, and we'd definitely bring him then! right now he's chillin with my parents and their two doxies – major Long Dog party!! :D

I love that you’ve been in California and Napa the exact same week Billy and I were road-tripping in the same area! Such a beautiful part of the country. Maybe y’all will go on a hot air balloon ride? :) Love that Basil is a big ole Long Dog party!

I like tomato sauce, mushrooms and olives on my pizza. I’d love to try socca crust (crust is the best part of pizza, LOL!).
I like to spend time outside, hang out in a coffee shop and putter around the home on my day off…keep it simple. But those things make me happy!
    Have a super weekend, dorry!

    • dorrybird on said:

I agree – crust is the best part. I really like it crispy! Simplicity on days off are key – otherwise you feel like you need a day off from your day off. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. :)

Mmmm, we’re doing a pizza night Friday! This just got me more excited than I already am ;) I love the fresh dough at WF – I’ll be picking some up on the way home! This inspired me to make my own sauce, too. It’s been a while since I’ve done that! Fave toppings: tomatoes, basil & mozzarella. The BEST.

    Happy weekend you two!

What a bummer! I got mine at Sunflower Market, but I’m pretty sure my Whole Foods has it, too. You can always request for Whole Foods to carry new things. They started carrying all the new larabar flavors when I made a request! :)
