frinks & things

February 24, 2012

things we are eating for breakfast:

  • oats with chia seeds (provide a healthy dose of Omega-3s & give the oats volume), cinnamon, sliced banana, vanilla almond milk. Billy likes 1/3 cup oats, I eat 1/2 cup. allow the oats to soak for an hour+ in the refrigerator. mix & enjoy.

*tastes like a delicious, slightly chewy banana pudding. I like to add almonds to mine. many people make these overnight, but an hour in the morning works for us.

things that will be coming with us to NY:

  • kitchen stuff
  • bedding, pillows, towels
  • clothes & shoes
  • yoga mat
  • foam roller
  • golf clubs
  • bikes on the rack
  • a few other odds & ends
  • yep, that’s really all.

things I’m doing online:

  • checking out Groupon & Living Social deals in New York City
  • “liking” various NYC yoga studios, stores, and restaurants on Facebook
  • looking up NYC races! I know a certain someone who will be a good resource.

things I’m reading online:

  • 47 ways to boost brainpower now – including dance, golf, yoga, flossing, breaking a routine, writing by hand, sex, laughter, staying hydrated, apples (one a day!)…
  • superfood: banana – bananas often get a bad rap in the fruit lineup because of sugars and higher carbohydrates, but this article highlights the many benefits.

I’m an oatmeal girl for breakfast all the way. And I love bananas, but my favorite fruit of all would probably be strawberries. But it’s such a close call b/c I love apples, pineapples, blueberries, bananas….ok, most all fruit ;-)

me, too! I rarely crave anything savory until lunchtime. I’m with you – too hard to pick 1 favorite fruit. I love eating them all together! Especially strawbs and pineapple.

I love reading how everyone does their oatmeal – all slightly different, I dig that! My favorite way, as you probably know by now is with 1/2 cup irish oats, 1 cup water, cooked on the stove with cinnamon (sometimes pumpkin pie or apple pie spice) and warm apples with more cinnamon on top, plus peanut butter. MMMM. Devoured my bowl of it this morning like nobody’s business! I <3 breakfast!

bookmarking that money article (hah, i mean that in both descriptive ways)! ;)

Have I mentioned that I can’t wait for you to be in NYC?! And I don’t even live there.

In reference to your mention of SeaWheeze – um, YES. Seriously must find a way for that to happen.

thanks, Heather! it will be fun to live in a different part of the country, although people like to remind me about the northeast winters…however, it seems it didn’t get too bad this year. maybe lulu can sponsor you as an ambassador to run SeaWheeze! :)

That is an awesomely minimalist list of what is going along with you and billy to nyc. How liberating!!
I eat apples most often, and love them, but a good melon is my favourite fruit!
Oatmeal with peanut butter is the best breakfast in winter! Filling and warming…not to mention delicious!
The first three links you give intrigue me! Happy weekend, dorry!

it is very liberating! we go rid of so much before we moved to Belize, and we aren’t attached to our furniture, so it will be nice to start fresh. peanut butter (or almond butter) definitely gives oats some staying power. :)
