I’m glad y’all liked our new date night with a twist plan! the best part about it is that both of us end up happy with the restaurant choice. this week, I chose the 2 restaurants and sent them to Billy to make the final choice.
I had a feeling he’d choose Porteño because Argentine cuisine is one of his favorites.

he made a reservation for 7:45pm, and we walked over after finishing our cocktail at home. we arrived on time, and our table wasn’t quite ready so the owner brought us 2 glasses of champagne on the house, and chatted with us for a minute.

the friendly, authentic service continued as we looked over the menu and got to know our server who moved to NYC from Buenos Aires last December.
Billy ordered the trio of empanadas to start, and said that outside of his time in Argentina, these were the best he’s had. Billy loves Argentina, and it’s on our list of places to visit this year or next.

in true Bird & Bee fashion, I ordered salmon, and he ordered a beef dish.
the salmon was cooked to perfection. medium on the inside, and crispy on the edges. Billy loved his as well. every bite was fresh, full of flavor, and made to order.
Billy wanted to surprise me with a 2-year blog anniversary dessert, and mentioned it when he called to make the reservation. they brought it out at the end of our meal with 2 lit candles, and 2 complimentary glasses of dessert wine. amazing!

Porteño has been open for about 6 months, and we concluded that it opened just for us. it’s like they knew we were moving down the street! besides the charming service and convenience, the menu is moderately priced for the quality and portion size.
although Argentine, this restaurant has replaced our love and longing for our favorite Italian neighborhood restaurant in Dallas, Taverna. the menu is full of dishes we both want to try, and the nightly specials sounded delicious as well.
thanks for a memorable night, Porteño. we’ll be back very soon!
if you had to pick one type of cuisine as your favorite, which would it be?

My favorite?
Mex at Manny’s or Fernando’s with Bird and Bee!

I had to comment because:
a) I love Argentina, it’s where Adam and I honeymooned. I have an obsession.
b) we went to Taverna yesterday for brunch. SO delicious.
