I hadn’t highlighted or cut my hair since we left Texas, but thankfully that changed Friday after work. a quick bike ride home from Bergdorf’s, freshened up, and off to a friend of a friend’s loft in Soho for some drinks. we went in the wrong entrance and climbed an unbelievable amount of stairs. also the 1st time I’ve worn heels in ages.

on Saturday we met some of our Texan friends at the Big Apple BBQ.
1st time to experience Texas BBQ (from the well-known Salt Lick) since we left Texas. the line for Salt Lick was longer than any of the others. people seem to know Texas does it right when it comes to BBQ! Billy was in sausage/brisket heaven.

I got to hang out with one of my girlfriends who has been living in NYC for 7 years, but the last time I saw her was when she made a trip to Texas earlier this year.
she loves Instagram as much as I do, and sent me this photo later in the afternoon.

I got a taste of being sick for the 1st time since we left Texas. a mean sore throat starting Saturday afternoon, so we took it easy with dinner at home Saturday night.
lots of gargling with warm salt water, tea with lemon, sleep, and a Sunday morning run <—yep, couldn’t resist. I’m killing this sore throat…
we’ve been talking about buying new bike helmets since before we left Texas, and that finally happened yesterday. we bought the Bern original helmets, and love them.
kettlebells, yoga mats, and helmets, oh my! #welcometoourlivingroom

there was also just some good ole fresh air on the roof time over the weekend.

best part of your weekend?

Oh ick on the sore throat. Hope you beat it!! Love that you still got out for a run
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!
The best part of my weekend was a 3-hour picnic at the park for Scott and I. We brought fresh fruit, love grown granola, selzer water and a big blanket. Napped under the sunshine and the trees while listening to pandora on my phone. It was absolutely BLISSful time together. I love that cute face so much, so spending a few hours completely uninterrupted was just perfect. <3
Sounds like your weekend was pretty perfect too (despite the sore throat). Love weekends like that!

Glad you killed the sore throat with sweat! I do the same thing too
Best part of my weekend was ALL of it!! It was so fun meeting my friends and spending 3 glorious days in Maine (give or take!) and having perfect weather, by the lake, in the water, and jetskiing!

I’m from texas so I might be a little biased but I would have to agree that TX know how to BBQ! NYC looks like such an amazing place to live – I’m so jealous that people who live there are able to bike and walk everywhere! My goal in life is to have that lifestyle!
