as anticipated, this past weekend was low key. no alarm clocks, laid-back breakfasts at home with all of the windows open, watching the U.S. Open on TV, and a lot of time spent outdoors in the gorgeous weather. a rooftop happy hour with friends kicked it off on Friday evening, and we saw the most beautiful sunset over the Hudson.
Saturday was our weekly ritual bike ride up the West Side Hwy to Central Park. the round-trip ride is about 14 miles, and we stopped this time at Sheep Meadow to have a snack and lay on a blanket. B rides with the backpack for our goods!
back at home we relaxed for a bit, and Billy took me on a date to the roof with champagne, strawberries, and chocolate. what a guy! he drank most of the champagne himself because I’ve been fighting allergies, etc. for a week or so.
he didn’t seem to mind.
I won’t call yesterday sad, but Father’s Day is a tough day for B since he lost his dad a couple of years ago, and we wanted to make the day fun. we walked over to the High Line to have a snack and take in the beautiful day.
golfing is Billy’s happy place. he had an invitation to play at a great course in Montauk yesterday, but that would have entailed almost 6 hours on a train, so he declined, and we headed down the street to Chelsea Piers.
some good stretching…
genuine excitement about the reappearing ball from underground. this was just what he needed. hopefully there will be a lot more golf in B’s life this summer.
afterward, we just walked around and chatted about life, our dads, and what to cook for dinner. pretty typical. pretty awesome. I love days with B.
he’s my best friend in the whole world.
did you have a wonderful weekend?
what’s your happy place?
