this weekend was pretty much perfection. we had a fun night out in the city on Friday, and Saturday we headed an hour north to New Canaan, CT.
we ventured there once before over Memorial Day weekend. similar photos (we lucked out with the weather both times!), but there was something completely magical about this idyllic summer weekend.

our friend’s family home couldn’t be more beautiful, and she is the most easy-going, generous hostess I’ve ever known.

Billy always making something delicious in the kitchen, or on the grill.

summer camp for adults. tennis, bocce ball, badminton, golf, climbing trees…
our friend was in town from Austin, and he came with us to CT. having a little bit of Texas in town this weekend was a highlight for all of us, and we’re plotting how to convince him to move to NYC. he’s officially part of the family.

after a cookout with chicken, burgers, steak, and corn on the cob, we took a quick and easy train ride back into the city. and I felt like I was home.
something about this weekend reset my master clock. I can attribute that to the beautiful location, great food, outdoor activities, etc., but it’s the people that really made this weekend. conversations and stories amidst an eclectic group, and insane amounts of laughter – that’s what did it.
how was your weekend? how do you reset?

looks like a great weekend! summer weekends outdoors with BBQs are the best. i enjoy the CT summer weather, it was good this past sat/sunday!
Oh what a beautiful home! Sounds like you had another lovely weekend. Loved all the pictures (as usual).
I LOVE weekends where you truly have a chance to breathe, reconnect and reset, like you said. I LOVE having friends that give you a chance to truly be yourself, laughing and living it up together. Such a blessed feeling, isn’t it?
