as I wrote on National Running Day, I’ve been running quite often lately. since my accident last month, I create a route that is pedestrian-friendly and as far removed from the bike path as possible. there is a comfortable, safe feeling about this route, and I haven’t gotten too bored with the same scenery each day.
on the day of the accident, I was running south. so I’ve been running north. only north. on every single run! but today I ran south. I didn’t plan on it, but once I was out there, I recognized that I’ve been afraid to run south. afraid of what?
“fear is the memory of pain.” – Deepak Chopra
I unexpectedly overcame that bit of fear – a fear I wasn’t even fully aware I had.
you know when people ask, “why do you run?” or “how does running make you feel?”
