A Trip to Yankee Stadium

July 23, 2012

the weekend was relatively low-key which suited us just fine. we saw some friends, ate good food, got in a 6-mile run, took naps, and rode our bikes. perfection.

but the real highlight of the weekend was last night.

Billy lived in London for a couple of years (BB – Before Bird), and his favorite team in the English Premiere League (soccer, for those who aren’t familiar) is Chelsea. so you can imagine his excitement when they made this announcement:

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to Play in First-Ever Soccer Match Yankee Stadium

European football, i.e. American soccer, played at a NY baseball stadium.

we took the Subway up to the stadium which only took about 25 minutes. the game started at 7:00pm, so naturally Billy wanted to arrive by 5:30PM.

we simply could not have asked for better weather.

this weather reminds me of September (or even October) in Texas which makes me feel nostalgic. such a treat to get a glimpse of it in July. perfect summer night!

Yankee Stadium is known for having a wide variety of food options, but we were out running errands earlier in the day and decided to pick up some snacks – good for our bank account and our arteries. (you can bring food inside, but not beverages.)

have you been to Yankee Stadium?

this was our 1st time, but we’re excited to go back for a baseball game.

favorite sport to watch live?

I loved watching soccer live – it’s nonstop, high-energy – more like basketball, whereas American football has so much setup between plays.

  1. What a FUN treat for Billy!! and gorgeous weather weekend for it too! And sidenote, I love that the calories are listed at the ballpark! Maybe more will opt for lower calorie when they see the guilt-laden treats and their correlating calories ;-)

  2. SUCH fun!! And you’re right, you couldn’t have had better weather for the occasion. How gorgeous was it this weekend, huh? Billy must’ve been in heaven!! I love that you brought your own snacks, I totally would’ve too — crazy how artery clogging/calorie laden those items are on that menu board. So gross! PS I love your pics, they are all so beautiful, especially the one of YOU!

You guys are SMART to bring stuff in. I have been to one Yankees game and it was the best ever! Hope you are having an amazing beautiful day. Thank you again, you are so thoughtful!
