Goals

My goals are a direct creation of my passions: nutrition, fitness, trying new things, learning new perspectives, nurturing relationships (marriage, family, friends, co-workers), finding a balance and having fun.

“Goals” took on a new meaning for me when I started working for lululemon athletica in March 2011. Chip Wilson, the company’s founder, encourages all of the employees at lululemon to create a vision for their ideal life, and set personal, career, and health goals to achieve that vision.

Your vision:

  • provides focus
  • helps you discover your personal path

Your goals:

  • inspire you to do the work
  • excite and even scare you
  • are specific, measurable and written in the present tense

Some guidelines for making powerful goals:

  • write it in present tense
  • make it measurable
  • use affirmative language
  • be specific
  • set a by-when

Some of my goals for 2012:

  • I move to New York City and continue to work for lululemon athletica  – done!
  • I enroll a group of people on my current team at work to take on some of the social media and other online aspects for our store – January 2012 – done!
  • I join a weekly running group – May 2012
  • I contribute another post to the lululemon blog – April 2012 – done!
  • I update this blog with a semi-new design & header – May 2012
  • I write monthly freelance articles for online or print publications – May 2012
  • I run the lululemon SeaWheeze half marathon in Vancouver – August 2012
  • I am a certified SPX Fitness/Pilates instructor – October 2012

the above goals to be achieved, changed, updated and transformed as I create new possibilities in my life…

Great goals, Dorry! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’m not the best runner, due to a bad knee, but hope to get into yoga. I’m trying my first class out tomorrow. Where are you getting your certification through? I’m getting mine through AFPA and have until December 30th to send my exam in.

Hi Kim! I hope you love yoga! There are many different types of classses so I’m sure you’ll find one that suits you. Bikram yoga has been a great challenge for me. I’m also going through AFPA and just received my materials yesterday! Definitely keep in touch. I’m really looking forward to HLS!

I never got to try yoga yesterday, but plan on getting it in this week. I’m enjoying the course material so far. I hope you do too! I’m really looking forward to the HLS, as well. Not much longer! Hopefully we’ll run into each other. :)

I really like this idea of setting and writing goals…a significant idea for me- and yet it scares me…so I tend to cower away fro it like most things in life it seems…

What restaurant is it that Billy wants to go to – it must be good to be waiting that long! I hope it’s not like in another country…;)

Very inspiring, as usual! Thanks to your encouragement and optimism, you helped me achieve my goal for 2011–to start a business! Thanks for being so inspiring. (I’m usually pretty skeptical…)

Love how specific and measurable your goals are! I especially love that some of them sound like they’ll take some things off your plate, giving you some more room to pursue the others.

yay! I love lululemon, too. I’ve been working for the company here in Dallas for a year, and my husband & I are about to move to NYC where I’ll continue to work for them. I’m all registered for SeaWheeze in August, and I can’t wait to start training in Central Park. :)

I have a 15K in Central Park this weekend. You NEED to sign up for New York Road Runners when you get here. They have atleast one awesome race a month. Let me know when you move – if you don’t mind meeting fellow bloggers I’d love to meet up. Email me – meghanforsberg@gmail.com – if you need bits of advice etc. Welcome to my favorite city in the world <3
