Cereals are any part of the grain of a cultivated grass that is able to be eaten, and includes the bran, endosperm, and germ. Cereals of grains are grown in quantities that are large and offers more food energy globally than any other type of crop so are known as“staple crops”. There are edible grains from other plant families, such as chia, quinoa, and buckwheat, but are called pseudo cereals.
Great for breakfast
When you’re racing to get out the door in morning (no judgment—everyone has been right there with you), the very last thing you have any time for is a laid back gourmet breakfast. Don’t get it wrong: If you are able to whip up a great meal in the morning more power to you. But what you can get is protein cereal which is great on the run and also great if you are on a diet.
Not an oxymoron
What you need is “healthy cereal” which is not an oxymoron, particularly when it is protein cereal. This is not the candy-like creations that are lining supermarket shelves every day. In fact, it was developed as a low-fat health product to get more fiber to bodies in despairing need! The problem develops when trying to decide which of these cereals are healthy for you from those that only pretend to be part of a complete breakfast. Advertising and labels that are misleading certainly don’t help—but we can.
Low fat – high protein
Actually it’s not surprising that cereal usually gets a bad name since they are packed with sugar, low in protein, and lacking in nutritional value but with the number of choices at the supermarket there are healthy cereal options but you just need to look for them. While these cereals probably don’t have any prize in their box, they will fuel you up to get your day started right.Just look for cereals that are low in fat, and high in protein.
